One Year Ago...

One year ago yesterday was the day when Eric asked for my phone number. That was the start of our relationship. We both liked each other but didn't know it. Eric asked for my number planning on asking me on a date that Friday. He never called, but he actually had a pretty good reason. He had told his friend that when he wanted to go on a date he would go with him. His friend found him a date for that Friday.

At first I was very disappointed but decided that if he had asked for my number it meant that he liked me too. So the next Monday I asked him on a date. I was so scared, partly because I wasn't completely sure that he did like me and partly because I was asking him to my sorority barn dance and didn't know if was the sort of thing he would enjoy. I called him that night and got his answering machine. I left a message. Later that night he called me back. I asked him to the Barn Dance and he said yes. I was so excited.

Over the past year year Eric and I have talked about that phone call a lot. Eric will tell you that he got the call while he was at work and wanted to answer right then but couldn't. He could tell from the message that that I was scared when I called him. He knew that I liked him because I sounded so nervous. From that point on he didn't worry about whether or not I liked him because I had called him even though I was scared. He was so excited about my call that he called me as soon he was off of work.

That Friday night was our first, and it was the best first date ever. We spent the night talking and laughing. We were able to be ourselves around each other. We stayed the whole time and didn't want the night to end. At one point he put his arm around me. It was only for a second but I enjoyed it.

When I drove him home I walked him to his door. He gave me a hug and told me that he had fun tonight. I told him that I had fun too. He also asked me if I would like to do this again. I said yes. He will tell you that my yes was very enthusiastic.

One year ago yesterday was the day that changed my life. I didn't know at that time that I was going to marry Eric. All I knew is that I really liked him. I'm so happy that Eric asked for my number and it eventually led to us getting married.

Yesterday was also our 2 month anniversary. These past 2 months have been the best of my life. I love being married.

  4. It's good to know that me being a third wheel didn't put a damper on things ;)

I always knew that if anyone deserved to find someone who made them happy, it would be my big sister.
